Pumpkin Chocolate Orange Tray Bake

This super fun Chocolate Orange tray bake is the best shape for all Halloween themed. This fun pumpkin design is really easy to pipe with just a few nozzles and oddles of buttercream needed.
Pumpkin Cake

Ingredients

120g Butter
120g Light brown sugar
110g Self raising flour
30g Cocoa powder
20ml Sunflower oil
2 Large eggs
2 tsp Orange extract
Buttercream –
200g Unsalted butter
400g Icing sugar
2-3 tsp Boiling water
1 tsp Orange extract

This super fun Chocolate Orange tray bake is the best shape for all Halloween themed. This fun pumpkin design is really easy to pipe with just a few nozzles and oddles of buttercream needed. Perfect for just grabbing a spoon and digging in.

Method

Soften the butter in the microwave for around 20 seconds. You just want it soft like on a warm day.
Pop this butter in your mixer along with the light brown sugar and mix for a minute. It should be lighter in colour and fluffy.
Stop the mixer and scrape down the bowl. Now add in everything else. This is the flour, cocoa, eggs, extract and oil.
Mix this up on a high speed until everything looks evenly combined.
Put the chocolate cake batter in the foil baking tray and spread out evenly.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
Leave to cool then have fun decorating.

Whip the soft butter on high until light and fluffy. Then add in the icing sugar and extract and mix well. Add in the boiling water until it is at the desired consistency.
Mix the buttercream to some fun halloween colours such as orange, green for leaves and brown for the stem.
Using a Jem 2d nozzle and orange buttercream, pipe lines starting in the middle then on each side of this line in curves. Use brown with a 18 nozzle and pipe a stem. Then lastly, pipe some green leaves with a 352 nozzles.
