Hidden Heart Loaf Cake

This cute Valentines chocolate cake is so easy to make. With the addition of the pink heart centre it makes the sweetest gift for your love.

Ingredients

Pink Heart – 180g Self raising flour
1/2 tsp Baking powder
180g Caster sugar
180g Butter – softened
4 Medium eggs
Pink food colouring – Colour Bomb from Frost Form bubble pink

Chocolate Loaf – 150g Plain flour
50g Cocoa powder
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Bicarb
1/2 Salt
4 Medium eggs
200g Caster sugar
140g Butter – softened
80ml Whole milk

Equipment

2lb loaf tin
Heart cutter
Jem 2D nozzle
This cute Valentines chocolate cake is so easy to make. With the addition of the pink heart centre it makes the sweetest gift for your love. It helps to freeze the mini hearts for 10 minutes before putting them in the loaf.

Method

To make the hearts – Add everything into a mixing bowl and mix well until combined.

Pour into a lined 9 x 9 inch square tin and cook for 15 minutes or until cooked.

Once cooked, take out and leave to cool. Once cool, Level the dome off the cake and cut out mini heart shapes.

To make the loaf – Add everything into a mixing bowl and mix well until combined

Pour a 1/3 the chocolate mix into the loaf tin. Now add in your mini hearts down the centre pressing into the batter. Pour in the rest of the chocolate batter and ensure the hearts are covered.

Now cook for 30 – 40 minutes or until cooked.

Top with chocolate buttercream and finish with heart sprinkles
