Student Information

Some useful info about your visit. Click on each title below to read all about it »

•Can't see a date that suits you? Give us a call or pop an email to hello@bluedoorbakery.co.uk and we'll do our best to add another for you.

•Worried whether a class will be too advanced or too basic for you? Fear not. We have lots of classes to suit all levels of cake experience, so we've separated them on our website but if you're still not sure which class is right for you, give us a call and we'll give you the technical low-down.

•Please check and double-check the date of your class before booking. Swapping class places can be very tricky so check out our cancellation policy before booking a day you're not 100% sure you're free. We hate saying no when we can't transfer places!

•Want to keep the family entertained while you're baking? We have lots of nearby attractions and beautiful countryside to keep everybody happy. Try:

West Midlands Safari Park

Westfield Merry Hill Shopping Centre

The Black Country Museum and

The Wyre Forest (to name just a few).

•We're very sorry but children under 18 can’t come to the classes unaccompanied. The person accompanying them will need to book their own place on the course.

  • We have endless cups of tea and coffee and a whole host of other drinks all day.
  • If you're visiting for a full day class, we'll provide lunch. Lunch is a selection of fresh sandwiches along with yummy crisps and some of our cakes or chocolates
  • We always provide vegetarian options for lunch.
  • If you've got a different special diet, you can tell us as part of our booking process or just get in touch to let us know.
  • Feel free to bring your own packed lunch if you'd like to for any reason.
  • We'll happily keep it in our fridge for you. Please note we can provide a salad for gluten free requirements. We can not provide lunch for other allergies.
  • Please bring an apron with you. Don't worry if you haven't got one yet, we do always have spares.
  • It is best not to wear fluffy jumpers for your class. When working with florist paste, it picks up any little bits of fluff, so it will make it easier for you if you don't wear anything that has a tendency to moult.
  • We have up to 6 in our classes so there's lots of one-to-one time with our tutors for everybody, with lots of opportunities to have questions answered and to get things right.
  • Our classes are taught by our own in-house Cupcake Gurus or carefully chosen guest tutors, well-known for their unique cake related talents. Find out more about who teaches your classes here.
  • There's lots to learn in a day with us so we'll give you full notes to take home with you and help recreate your masterpieces without us.
  • The toilets are in a separate building around 10 seconds walk from our studio. We have pretty brollies if it’s raining!
  • The start and finish times vary for each class, so please double check when the class you've booked starts.
  • You're welcome to arrive any time from 15 minutes before the class start time.
  • Most classes finish at the time we list. Sometimes they do finish earlier or overrun a little though, so if you do need to leave exactly on time, please let us know at the beginning of your class.
  • If you arrive earlier than 15 mintues, we’ll still be setting up so head under the arch to Tardebigge café for a cup of tea while you wait.
  • Directions for the studio are here
  • We’re in Redditch. About 3 miles from Bromsgrove train station and Redditch train station. If you’re driving, the postcode is B97 6QW.
